Cultivator would like to introduce himself. On the eponymous first track off his upcoming LP, You Will Feel The Wind, Geoff Brown crafts an eight-minute musical exhibition. As a multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and producer, Brown’s bursting track “Cultivator” elucidates exactly what you’re in for on You Will Feel The Wind: everything. Drums thrash, woodwinds squeal, guitars whine, cowbells cling and prophecies shoot through diffusive noise like divine intervention: “One day, not too far from now, the wind will blow.” It is quintessential Brown, a masterfully constructed compound that appears frenetic, but really isn’t at all — the aberrant soundscapes coalesce into a natural kind of harmony, a distinct signature that is exclusively Brown’s.
